quantities using a graph / linear relationship

INTRODUCTION
y = m x + b
is the equation of the line .
m is the slope and b is the y-intercept (intersection between the line and the y-axis)

PROCEDURE
you need: a beaker , a ruler an a plate scale.
step1: Fill the beaker to a height of 2 cm. Measure the mass of the beaker  water. (grams)
report the values in the table below.

step2: repeat step1 for a height = 4cm, 8cm, 10cm, 12cm. Fill the table,

x= height of water (cm)y= mass of beaker + water (g)

ANALYSIS

1) Use a graph paper. plot the points (x,y). Label the axis and give a title to the graph. Do not connect the dots.

2) trace the best fit line. The line DOES NOT go through zero.
Find the slope of the line and the y- intercept. Use the graph below and the definitions to help you.

Trace a triangle like on the picture.

or slope = (height/base)
