Let's try to use your TI 84 or TI 83. Each time you are done with an operation use the
key=2nd QUIT

step1: Make sure you don't have any equation stocked in your TI.
key = Y clear every thing then 2nd QUIT
step2: Enter the data
key = STAT then 1:EDIT
Enter the x values in L1 and y values in L2 then 2nd QUIT
step3 : prepare the graph
key = 2nd then STATPLOT ( above the key Y=)
key = 1: PLOT1 then ON then 2nd QUIT
step4: prepare the scale
key = ZOOM then enter 9 (scroll down to 9 or enter 9)
does it look like a straight line ?
step5 find the equation of the line
key = STAT then CALC then scroll down to 4:LinReg(ax+b) (scroll down to 4 or enter 4) then ENTER
a is the slope and b is the y-intercept. You find y = ___ x + ______
step6 graph your best fit line
key = Y enter the equation of the line in Y1= ......x + b
To enter x use the key = X,T,n, θ then 2nd QUIT
step6 trace the scatter plots and the line
key = TRACE or GRAPH ET VOILA !
